A Lifetime of Art

Cassie Barner is the artist behind Zen Lotus Arts. Cassie has painted from the time she was young, winning her first statewide art contest at age six.

As a child, Cassie lived in several different states granting her an appreciation for different artistic styles around the country. While spending summers on both east and west coast beaches, Cassie was able to observe coastal art that included the use of shells and other items. While living in Arizona, the beautiful use of color in southwestern art and the integrative use of environmental items greatly influenced the art Cassie paints today.

About Us

Zen Lotus Arts

Cassie is a mixed media contemporary artist who loves to paint in bright, vibrant colors. She often incorporates items such as hand painted leaves, real shells, lotus decals, and gemstones in her art. Each painting takes over 40 hours to complete, beginning with gesso and ending with varnish. Painting on bamboo requires several layers of paint, ensuring the paint is evenly spaced between each matchstick of bamboo. This requires very small paint brushes and attention to detail.

.

Each painting comes ready to hang with a certificate of authenticity, and they roll and unroll easily for transportation. The shells and starfish used on the paintings and cards come from both the Florida and California coasts, and the art cards come with padded bubble wrap envelopes for mailing.  The skeleton leaves used in the paintings and cards are each individually painted by hand, and no two are alike. The lotus decals used on the paintings are from Florida artist Christopher Fitzgerald and can be purchased separately from the ETSY  shop PrintFarmUSA at  https://www.etsy.com/market/printfarmusa?ref=l2.
